I've counted and recounted that list, and I'm damned if I can get it to add up to 40.

Bit lost first half, was great second. Still can't see it being more than the exception which proves the rule. Wouldn't mind seeing him late off the bench if we need a goal but shouldn't start imho

"He simply played at the standard a player earning his kind of dough SHOULD put in week in, week out."

Really? Against players who are earning quite a bit more than he does?

Re: Kevin Nolan was the man of the match vs Chelsea in a good team performance
Well he scored. I don't remember much about his performance other than that. Actually I think he was coming back after being injured, wasn't he? He had to turn it on as the team were flying without him.

I'd suggest he's at his best after getting dropped or we're playing a 'big' team and he's got something to prove. To be fair we've had our fair share of players who turn it on when they feel like it and coast when they know their place isn't under threat. Nolan reminds me of exactly that kind of player this season.

Chim, I thought he was the best player against west brom away in the league if that helps.

Re: Kevin Nolan was the man of the match vs Chelsea in a good team performance
What the fuck is the mental age of this site? So many people on here seem to judge a player on only the last game they played. Nolan had a good game? Amazing player and great leader. We're in the last quarter of the season now so can anyone give an example of when he's been man of the match in another game this season?

I didn't think he was man of the match against Chelsea either but that's just my opinion. He simply played at the standard a player earning his kind of dough SHOULD put in week in, week out.

I've got no agenda against him and I'm aware of his leadership qualities. It's just that a player in his position needs to pull the strings more and that player is Stuart Downing. Nolan is playing like a player nearing the end of his top flight career. It happens to every player eventually.

Both him and Allardyce should be like company trouble-shooters. Go into a team freshly relegated and on its arse and turn it around from top to bottom. They are the perfect couple for that job.

Re: Kevin Nolan was the man of the match vs Chelsea in a good team performance
Ronald....
Spot on.
I've said it many times about Nolan. The abuse he gets on here is beyond a joke. He has been a leader on and off the pitch for the majority of his time at the club. I'm not sure how many games he's played for us but he's scored over 30 goals in probably 120 odd games. His performances have tailed off this season I appreciate that but anyone who says he hasn't been a good signing, particularly the first two seasons has an agenda.

I'm not for one minute suggesting he is worth a new contract when his current one runs out but compare his contribution to another midfielder we have who has just signed a five year contract and I know who I think has contributed more in that time.

Re: Kevin Nolan was the man of the match vs Chelsea in a good team performance
Nolan had his best game for us in a long while but I thought Gary Cahill stood out as best player of the game. Noble started well but faded in 2nd half. He was never MoM.

Re: Kevin Nolan was the man of the match vs Chelsea in a good team performance
It's strange that so many seem unwilling to acknowledge Nolan's performance.
How the fuck Noble got MOTM I will never know.

Or does that stand for Mediocre of the Match?
